Arrange training for your group

Courses or workshops can be arranged for specific professional or family groups as needed; they will be costed individually.  Contact us if you would like more information or to set up training for your group.  Our contact details are listed on the back page.

2010 Courses and Workshop costs:

Tuition fees per person for courses: Two day course         £100

Three day course       £115

Four day course         £130

Five day course          £145

Tuition fees for person for one-day workshops:      £80

Tuition costs are correct at the time of going to press.  A deposit of £40 is required when booking for any course/workshop, together with a completed enrolment form, which should reach us at least 3 weeks’ in advance.  Forms are available from our office - please see contact details below.

Course places and on-site accommodation at our Summer School are both limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis. 

New courses are continually being arranged.  Please get in touch if you would like to discuss training.

Although every effort will be made to run courses as advertised, the Association cannot guarantee that no changes will be made.We are most grateful to those whose generous donations allow us to offer free and low-cost tuition in Cued Speech.

Cued Speech Summer School details:

Dates: 2 - 6 August (five days)

Location:  Exeter (Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education, ERADE)

Courses include: Foundation, Improvers, Advanced, Children’s and English for French cuers.   A day-time crèche will be available.

What happens at the Summer School?

This year will be our 10th Summer School at ERADE in Devon.  Day-time lessons are followed by social activities such as a boat trip, rounders matches and an evening meal with Cued Speech Cabaret.  There is also time to take a peaceful stroll along the river or to explore the local shops and amenities.

Whilst you learn, the little ones will enjoy fun activities in the crèche, with an exciting lighting room and outdoor play facilities to enjoy.  They will be looked after by fully trained childcare workers with Cued Speech and BSL skills.  For the older children there is a Children’s Course especially designed to give a blend of learning to cue mixed with fun indoor and outdoor activities.

At Exeter there is a relaxed teaching environment, with comfortable, low cost, self catering, student-style accommodation in mainly single rooms.  The Exeter school site is situated near the attractive riverside area with a cycle and walking path, and is close to the city shopping centre and cathedral square.  Also within half an hour by car are sandy beaches.  There is ample car parking on-site, and the Exeter St. David’s train station is a short drive away.

Summer School tuition fees:

Adults:      as above (for 5 day course)

Children’s Course and Crèche: for deaf children & family members   Free -  and for Professionals’ children,  £20 per day =  £100 for the week

Summer School on-site accommodation fees:

B&B, self-catering facilities, sandwich lunch and tea/coffee for 5 days are: 

per adult  £100  and per child  £85

Sandwich lunch/refreshments for day students for 5 days are:   per adult   £21   and per child    £16

Tuition fees and Summer Schools costs can be reduced (or sometimes waived) for families and those with financial constraints.  Please contact the Cued Speech office to discuss discounts.A deposit of £40 is required when booking, which should reach us at least 4 weeks’ in advance.  Forms are available from our office - please see contact details below.
